Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How much do the Gun Guards weigh?

    a. The Standard Rifle Model weighs just under 11oz.

    b. The Black Rifle Model (BRM) weighs around 9oz.

  2. I don’t like Velcro or Zippers, so I wouldn’t use them…..

    a. PERFECT! We use Neodymium magnets on all of our Alaskan Gun Guards. This allows them to be reversable for Right- or Left-Handed Shooters.

    b. The BRM magnets are set up in what I call the “praying hands” position. They are not reversable, as not needed due to the Firearm being either carried Crossbody or used with a Bipod or Tripod, where your concern is to have any rain just run off the bottom. when needed?

  3. How easy are they to take off?

    a. Just a simple grab and pull or disconnect the magnets one by one.

  4. Ok, but what if you’re going through think brush and a bear charges?

    a. First off….. If I’m going through thick brush, I’m not going to have the Gun Guard on, or my hands are either on my G20 or .44 mag……

  5. Which Model would you suggest for a Shotgun, Lever Action or Muzzleloader?

    a. For a Shotgun or Lever Action, I would recommend the BRM? Reason being is that there is a middle magnet that will fall in love with the Receiver or mag tube. The BRM does not have this, plus there is plenty of room below to keep it away from the receiver.

    b. For a Muzzleloader, the Standard Model will work just fine.

  6. Do you make these yourself?

    a. NOT A CHANCE! Using magnets, a Sewing machine with a metal plate, metal foot and metal needle…… I don’t have the patience for such. Our Sewer has over 25 years’ experience in sewing and also lives in North Pole, so I have direct access to her business/shop.

  7. How long have these been out?

    a. Our fist in state show was April 2019.

    a. Patent granted January 2020.

    a. Our first out of state show was January 2020. Then February……….2020 COVID hit! What is the saying…. “Business is all about timing….”
